My idea for doing this series was to start a daily practice of painting a simple shaped object which has a variation of colors. The apple seemed the perfect choice. I planned to use this as an exercise to concentrate on bold brush strokes, edges and a freer more spontaneous approach to a still life. I have always liked, what I call, ”the not so still, still life” or a sense of movement in the inanimate objects.
I use an 8”x8” board and have my pallet loaded and just go for it very quickly. Sometimes I have an apple in front of me and other times it is totally for my imagination.
Did I mention I’m Artist in residence at Sponsel’s‘ Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard!
Where you can see more of my paintings.
I am posting these on Daily painters of Minnesota.
